What do we do?
We are building the future of RPA. Phase 1 of our vision is to build an agentic, workflow automation platform for healthcare that solves manual paperwork saving 100s of hours of wait time for patients seeking critical care or medical equipment. Seed funded by Lightspeed.

What You’ll Do
You’ll build the core backend systems powering trycoral.ai’s platform — microservices, workflow-orchestration, document-ingestion, integration APIs with EHRs/payers, high-volume data pipelines. Join a small, agile engineering team and help scale a healthcare-automation platform that handles unstructured clinical documents and real-time workflows.
Design, build and maintain scalable backend services and REST/GraphQL APIs.
Work on ingestion pipelines: parsing faxes/PDFs, transforming unstructured docs into structured form, validating against rulesets.
Build workflow-orchestration engine: routing tasks, handling exceptions, integrating with downstream payer systems.
Ensure high reliability, observability, security (HIPAA, ISO27001) and performance across our systems.
Collaborate with ML engineers to deploy models into production pipelines.
Work with product & frontend teams to deliver new features end-to-end.
Participate in infrastructure decisions: containerisation (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), CI/CD, cloud (AWS/GCP).
Mentor junior engineers, help define engineering best-practices and scale the backend team.
What We're Looking For
As a Senior Backend Engineer, you'll be instrumental in building the core infrastructure and backend systems that power Coral’s intelligent automation platform. You’ll:
4+ years experience designing backend systems — ideally in Python, Go or Node.js.
Strong experience with microservices architecture, asynchronous/event-driven systems, API design.
Familiarity with databases (PostgreSQL, Redis), message queues, cloud services, containerization.
Experience in production environments: monitoring, alerting, SLAs, CI/CD pipelines.
Excellent debugging and system-thinking skills; able to handle complexity and scalable design.
Comfort with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Pulumi, etc.).
Preferred
Healthcare domain experience (EHR integration, HL7, FHIR) or working with unstructured clinical data.
Experience with document-ingestion, OCR/NLP pipelines, or large-scale workflows.
Prior experience working remotely on distributed engineering teams.
